Hiya,

I have set-up the combination of Artillery Support / Support Requester Modules into an IFA3 Mission but it has thrown up some gaps in my knowledge:
1/I can only find the Russian Mortar Unit. AFAIK you need a manned 'Artillery' piece for the Modules to run; "Is there a US Mortar Unit/Item available?" I know I should know that there is/is not, but I don't, and I can't find any reference to one in the add unit menu, 'empty' or otherwise?
2/There are too few hints available in-game when the range; either between the requester and the artillery piece, or the target area and the artillery piece to figure out why the request is often ignored?
The 'Artillery Support available' hint is visible top left, and you can get so far through the menu; up until you get to request a particular munition, and then the dialogue ends?
I have assumed that this is down to a range issue. Does anybody know the optimum set-up (range wise), for the modules/artillery piece and the requester/target area?
In game, being able to move the mortar team would be ideal, but unless they are playable/switchable, which in my mission they aren't, I don't see how this is possible. And if the AO shifts during a battle, surely the Artillery Support becomes useless as the target area moves completely out of range?
3/How many artillery pieces can be linked to one requester - and how many units can become requesters for one artillery piece?
I had one set-up where an entire section of 9 units were able to request artillery from one Mortar Team.
I dismantled it before testing it, but it left me with the question of; if the one unit capable of calling in artillery for a playable group gets killed, and no artillery support is then available, isn't it a better idea to allow the whole team access to the fire support, and also would this work? Would I need to add multiple modules for each 'requester', even if they are in the same group of units?
Learning the A3 Mission Editor is steep learning curve and this is just one of, what I would consider essential aspects of a Mission, that I am just have to get down and figure out. But if anybody is going through the same curve and has any of this figured out already I would appreciate some pointers - Cheers!

Remembered that the US equipment list should include an M2 Mortar - but I can't find it in the A3 Editor anywhere?

The intermittent, or no response, to the Artillery Support Request turned out to be simply a lag problem, and that can be cured and watched for easily enough and further tests turned up that the distance between the Support Requester and the Artillery Piece (Virtual or otherwise) isn't an issue; the Request will go through however far apart these two are,. The only issue is (naturally enough) the range from the artillery piece and the requester's chosen coordinates.
*Mystery Solved : -)
