I've got IFA3 LITE up and running and I'm playing with the Eden Editor. I've searched around on how to make units random spawn. I've found a number of you tube tutorials using the older version editor but nothing so far on the Eden Editor. I have found a tutorial using the dynamic spawn module and that helped clear up a few things but what I'd like is to make different types of units spawn at different locations randomly.

Example: A group of three or four Tiger tanks approach an objective from the west, or a couple Panthers
approach the same objective from the south or instead of the Panthers make it an infantry unit. Something along those lines.

Can anyone direct me to a wiki page or video tutorial that may help this noob out?

Thanks Gunter
I'll check it out. You've got a lot of info there and hopefully it will shed some light.

I just found this short tutorial video posted only a couple days ago regarding random spawning in the Eden editor. This worked like a champ for part of what I was looking for.

I'm still trying to get my head wrapped around all the different modules in the new editor...sort of picking my way through it all.

After reading and also watching the video tutorials (pre-Eden editor) that I've been able to find I discovered that there is a lot of info on random and dynamic spawning but almost nothing using the Eden editor.
Gleaming what I could and by using much trial and error I think I found a pretty simple way of random spawning units. Keep in mind that I'm a noob at this and there are probably multiple ways of accomplishing what I wanted to do.

Here's the test scenario I wanted: A group of Panzers west of a village. A group of Panzers to the south and one to the east. The village has a crossroads so the tanks would travel in trail formation into the village. I wanted a situation where I did not know from what direction the tanks were coming from or how many.

1: Start Eden editor and hit "M" to open the 2D editor.
2: Go to F6 systems>sites(way down at the bottom)Random Patrol module. Place module anywhere on map.
3: Go to F2 composition units>I chose a group of Tigers and placed them to the west somewhere. At this time you will have a group of tanks all with a single blue line attaching them to a Lead Unit.
4: I added the same group of Tigers to the East and to the south. All are out in the open fields.
5: Click on the Lead Unit of one of the groups (not the rectangle box attached to it.) and Sync it to the module you placed earlier. Do this for the other two groups. If you do this right you will have a single blue line extending from each Lead Unit to the module. What I found is unless you zoom in it's really easy to miss the leader and sync his rectangle box to the module. If this happens you will immediately see blue lines extending from each unit to the module and you will lose their grouping.  Delete the individual lines, re group the tanks to the original leader and start again.
So now what you should have is three groups of tanks with single blue lines connecting them to your module.
6:Give each group a Move waypoint a short distance away. In each unit's attributes I set their behaviour to safe as I did not want them going spasdic looking for threats upon initial spawning.
7: Place a single soldier at a point where everything is visible and set him as player. Now when the mission starts you can see what's going on in all directions.

Success! When previewed numerous times I had the groups randomly showing up from any one the three directions, move to the first waypoint and stop.

Next I Added a single Tiger tank (copy/paste from on map units),to each of the three seperate groups and grouped him to the Lead Unit. Now we have five tanks in each of the three groups. Previewing the mission once again shows all five showing up from random directions, moving to the waypoint and stopping. I had problems when adding a single unit (F1) to the groups so I used the existing tanks on the map. No idea why but this way worked.

From this point we have three units of 5 tigers spawning randomly from one of three directions.
I gave each a waypoint to the nearest road changing the formation to column, speed slow and behaviour is safe. Another waypoint brought them each to the crossroads.

Once again numerous previews had everything working perfectly.

Adding some dynamics to it all.

Because it got boring I went into each individual tank and set probability to 50%. After previewing again there I got between two and five tanks showing up from the various directions and following the waypoints.

I also tried setting the placement of each group to 100m upon spawning. This worked too, placing the individual tanks at varying distances from the starting point.

Hope this helps. Someone please try it out and let me know if it works for them.
