Winter Retexture and Finland 1944

Ironfront ArmA2 conversion 1.07 only!
Requires IFA2

IFA2 1.07 only!

Retex is generally winter units for RKKA and Wehrmacht but as work progressed artillery was fixed and a whole series of SdKfz 251 was added along with dark grey camo.
PzKpfw IV Ausf.J was added for Finland (below) so I gave the germans the same in camo and grey - this J-version has manual turret and is generally a low budget H-version so I reduced the turret speed to half and you will not hear any servo.
  • Opel Blitz series in dark grey
  • Opel Blitz Pak40 and leFH 18/40 - towing guns directly by placing them in editor (or script create)
  • SdKfz 251/1 (existing camo series, new dark grey and white winter series)
  • SdKfz 251/2 - Mortar carrier
  • SdKfz 251/3 - Radio (backpack in "gear" menu)
  • SdKfz 251/4 - Gun truck, this one with towed Pak40
  • SdKfz 251/5 - Pioneer vehicle, focused on mines
  • SdKfz 251/6 - MHQ version, nothing special here
  • SdKfz 251/7 - Pioneer vehicle, focused on demolition
  • SdKfz 251/8 - Ambulance
  • SdKfz 251/17 - Flak 38 Anti-aircraft vehicle
  • StuG III G in dark grey and winter camo
  • PzKpfw IV H in dark grey and winter camo
  • PzKpfw IV J in camo, dark grey and winter camo
  • leFH 18/40 (Pak 40 stripped from shields representing 10.5cm Light Field Howitzer 18/40)
  • Soviet T-34/76 in winter camo (the others need hexedit models to apply winter camo)
  • M-30 Howitzer (ZiS-3 stripped version as leFH 18/40 above)
  • ZiS-5V Towed Howitzer truck (M-30 Howitzer)
  • Scout M3 Towed Howitzer truck (ZiS-3 Field Gun)
  • Studebaker Towed Howitzer truck (M-30 Howitzer)
  • Studebaker Towed Howitzer truck (ZiS-3 Field Gun)
  • Both Wehrmacht and RKKA has 2 MG/Mortar team units (Team leader and gunner), summer and winter version.

Artillery above (and mortars) works with BIS "Artillery Computer" interface to accurate ranges.
Addon also includes "normal" ArmA2 running animations as well as a simple weapon resting system.
Shorter Grass on Utes and Chernarus (originally by KeyCat - credits to him).
Wehrmacht and Soviet flags as ingame map markers.
SVT-40 and G43 fire-sound when script reload (such as in BIS warfare) has been fixed.
Kubelwagen and some trucks screaming sound when starting up have been reduced to "normal" levels.

Ironfront units has been extended to include StuG III with machinegun (as above) and both MG Team and Mortar Team is available for Red Army and Wehrmacht
Also added is both factions flags as map markers (Finnish is already in FDF)

PzFaust with rocket/grenade using 5 handgun slots (look for the 5 blocked images) rather than half the inventory.


Feel free to dePBO and rework/extend/improve etc. - no question needed.
New model for Suomi KP/-31 could be needed for instance - using Soviet PPSh41 as of now.

First post updated as I've split the addon from the domination pack (now includes a FIN version on Podagorsk).

@Gunter - Yes.

Edit2:
Hold on with that Podagorsk version, when securing a town the next will spawn but the secured one stays "red" - will try to fix some day.

Very nice textures ! Is the adding completely dependent on FDF meaning it won't run without it ? Or does it just simply not have Finnish dialogue when FDF is not present ?

Awesome work, thanks!

Just wanted to point out that the stugs you have reskinned and added the mg to, do not have the same destruction system as the IF stugs.

On a side note , with this release for Arma2, does this mean you will be updating those wonderful mission you did when IF was first released?

Missions Like Co36 Conqueror, Co36 MOUT, Ascendancy and the other theOden Mission Packs?

Correct rowdied, there was other issues with the StuG's too such as missing "tank indicator" - but I felt it was good to go and was more keen to throw myself at the missions using the addon [smile]

As of a few minutes ago the pack has been updated to include "tank indicator" and a bunch of other small tweaks. Not sure if this new class added "LIB_ModelConfig" will help destruction simulation but they sure look better now haha - we can't have it all it seems [smile]
(in all honesty, IF config is more than complicated compared to what I've been tackling the last 12 years).

Other mission packs will not be released as I've redone them all to use server-side scripts in an act of anger over BIS money grabbing steam-exclusive move (they tell me to fakk off I stop sharing - as you see, IF is a side rule, but very much on the border to never have happened, but I really like the fin-style so I thought I should share it) - but I am working on BIS Warfare incl some of my standard tweaks, this side project has failed me so far and in that angermanagementfailure ( [smile] ) I jumped onto this config adjustment of today.

Hopefully I'll manage to set up this warfare thing - runs sweet in the other flavors (CWR2 etc) even though it was long time I battled them, Conqueror has beaten most modes in my books.

Hi oden,

Great addon! Seems like the addon also depend on fdf mod for Finnish names. Playing without the fdf mod causes the error message "generic Finnish name missing" when adding AI.

Hope you have more addons in the works;-)

I'd assume the addon is very much depending on FDF but one should only get errors but still be able to play without it.
But, not having FDF and still having interest in this little odd creation feels a tad bit off-rails to me [smile]

@TurkishSoap - sorry, I missed you question earlier but I assume you have the answer now (not a clear one by all means, as I have not tried without FDF).

No other addons in the pipeline, most I use is already done and running - nothing public though.

It works for the Finnish Stugs but not the German ones. Did you forget to add the configs for the German ones?

Mine too. t would be great to see an updated version of this for IF in Arma... please....?
