After getting IFA3 running correctly I'm working my way thru the German campaign.
One of the mission tasks requires setting a demolition charge under a half track and blowing it.

  The youtube tutorial vids say to place the charge, place the wire, hook up the wire, move away and attach the detonator using a combination of clicking on inventory, using the middle mouse wheel, spacebar etc.  Or, shooting the demo charge and it will explode.

  In reality I'm placing the charge and bringing over the wire to it. After that I cannot get any further. If I shoot the charge nothing happens yet if I shoot the charge in the ammo crate it simply burns with no explosion per videos. Can someone please point me in the right direction here?

You basically need to attach the wire to the detonator, use the longer wire if its available.

Thanks for replying Gunter.
Here's what I've narrowed down. In the tutorial vids, the charge is moved from inventory and placed on the ground...you can see the charge on the ground. The action menu then shows "lay wire" while looking at the charge sitting on the ground. The player then runs away to the detonator, attaches wire and uses it. BOOM!

What I have is: The charge, wire and detonator are in a crate, all are visible. I then transfer each to my inventory and I can see each on the inventory screen. I then place the charge on the ground (like the video) and it disappears. It goes from inventory and ceases to exist. Therefore I have no action menu item for "laying wire" because there's nothing to lay to or from...because it's not there.

Also, in the tutorial vid, another way of detonating is shooting the charge...it explodes. In my case. I tried shooting the charge in the crate and I get a little fire. No idea if this part is relevant.

I should mention that my game is using the previous ARMA version...not 1.6 which was causing problems.

Which version of IFA3 are you using?

Doesn't sound like the latest IFA3 lite but the full version and I believe it had the same issue. I know IFA2 did which was never fixed.

Post this tutorial, because the charges do work, make sure you have sapper tools too.

The tutorial is from 2012, and its for Iron front specifically.
Also as Rowdy asked I will quote him:

Again as he asked what IFA3 are you using IFA3 Full version where you need to convert IF to a mod or IFA3 Lite?

The version is IF Full version converted as mod. You assisted me in setup a month or so ago.
I have not gotten into IFA3 LITE as I believe it does not yet work with SP which is all I'm interested in.

Ok again, is it for ARMA 3 or ARMA 2? Because both were full version converted as mods to work in both A2 and A3.

Also the full version is not supported anymore as mentioned in numerous threads here and in the official BIS forums. DO NOT USE IT!!!

In both versions A2 and A3 the satchels or any placed explosives do not work, period! Back 3 patches ago BIS updates in A3 rendered them non working.

IFA3Lite for A3 is the recommended method to play IF at the moment. It is being updated continually and is being made to take advantage of A3 workings.
It works absolutely fine in SP, it is MP where the damage model doesn't work.

honestly if you had bothered to look around a bit on the release thread here or in BIS forum all your questions would have been answered.
