I am very much an Armour fun, mostly WWII, but
today I came across this tank from recent International MSPO show.
I have never seen the coolest tank like this PL-01.

There is much more details about this tank, but unfortunately in Polish.
I don't understand, but there was mentioned that this tank was created in partnership with British BAE Systems.
In that case there could be quite potential for this tank.
I've heard the Poles can make good planes but tanks ...?
Anyway,  whatever it's potential It still looks really SEXY, more like from a 3D game than real.

Yeah, but let's wait, until we get something more, than early concept mockup.

They say that mass production is scheduled to begin in 2018 year.
If it's a fact I guess it has already passed mockup stage.

Here is another HQ clip, but we need a translator ?

I'm living in Poland actually, so I wish them all best with this project. Own MBT model would be great for Poland. But also I have some concerns based on past experiences with polish reality. Even, if they are saying, they want to begin mass production in 2018, it doesn't mean that much yet. There are many obstacles ahead, that can easily delay or simply break any great concept or amount of good will and determination of constructors. To make it happen many "men of power" (policymakers) must to give it green light and assign public money. Men, that too often seek rather own, particular interests than actual good of the country. So we have risk of corruption, lobbying, bureaucracy, bad organization, lack/waste of funds, trends in current behind-the-scenes policy etc. It is not first ambitious polish project last years, you know. We had/have "Gawron" corvette (even hull was launched, now probably gets second chance as patrol vessel), there was/is universal light tank/fire support platform "Anders", there are even projects brought to the fully functional prototipe state, yet never bought by the Army (lack of funds or will).

Still some projects are successful, like SP howitzer AHS "Krab" or, somewhat, SP antiaircraft artillery set "Loara" (yet, only few, if any would be bought), not mention some small (or not so small) firearms... But these are just modern, not so "future" (but some).

Anyway, that way it looks in Poland.

As for second movie, they are speaking about good reception on the MSPO, features, like ceramic/titanium armor, remote (unmanned) turret, active defense, lightweight, high mobility etc. They want also to sell it to the another NATO countries (export).  But - they are only asking now for funds, that may be given or not, and whole idea must be still approved by
Ministry of National Defence. If so, in the 3 years we should get prototipe and after 2 more - mass production.

Rydygier, thanks for translation.
I'm pretty sure this toy will see daylight.
My guess is that many Polish politicians are already blinded.
Now the funds are only needed.
The Taxpayers could be the answer ( I've heard that somewhere over and over )

Regardless, it's always better to try,
than do nothing and buy scraps from other countries.

Myself I would love to see a batch of PL-01 on Australian coast.

but as CAREEREVIL stated - with wider tracks unless is not necessary.

I can guess, that tracks, along with whole chassis hidden under "plates" are for mockup purposes taken from something else just to make it mobile. I do not expect ready traction of final shape on this stage. In fact, I just found confirmation in Polish, that:

- chassis is taken from swedish IFV CV90;
- turret is of course sheet metal mockup;
- other equipment borrowed by BAE systems, SAAB and others.

This is just concept model. PO-01 competes for funds with many other projects, so we will see...

The Polish make EXCELENT sailplanes actually.(Ok..i'm getting off topic)I've spent the entire summer flying one particular design.Their finish is excelent as is their handling and their performance is world class.I beleive the world champion is still Polish.So it shouldn't come as a surprise that they can produce top quality equipment.By the way,I didn't catch how many crew members the tank has..

The PL-01 features a three-person crew, and an unmanned fully automatic turret.

After all it may happen. Long road ahead though. Works planned for 3 years, probably + usual delay 25-50%.

(100 mln of PLN (about 35 mln $) granted for this project)
