Hello All,

I've just bought IF and only being playing it (single player) over the last weekend. I'd rather keep it as a WW2 sim so am not interested in going down the Arma2/Arma3 route but what are the best mods you'd recommend?

Thanks

Hi welcome to the IF Fan forums, and to IF [wink]
there are no mods for IF itself thats why the arma2 (IFA2) and Arma3 (IFA3) versions were created, or setup, because IF is not moddable.

In 2012 on the official IF forums now since 2013 closed down this thread which I reposted here before they were shutdown for good, explains
what was possible in late 2012 with IF, which btw never happened, by start of 2013 Awar who built the game quit, and all support for the game died.
Thats where TayUK (main admin of the forum here) and myself came in, the forum here was created to replace the
official forums which shutdown towards the middle of March 2013.

At the same time a mod team was formed by me called IFR (Iron front Revival) we were contacted by Kju who had worked with
the Devs of IF and was allowed to convert the game to a mod for arma2CO at the time, also known as IFA2 then.

So kju myself and my team of 20 created a tool called the conversion tool which converted your IF to a mod for arma2CO, which allowed the
community to create, build, and play with mods for IF, in 2014 kju put together some mods for compatibility, and the IFA3 was born (IF in arma3)
i was never a part of that part, until i came into the picture towards the end of the year mostly 2015.

IF itself is not moddable it was to be through a DLC program but that never took off.
In Oct 2012 i built a website I called the Mission Repository to help support the community by having a place were
IF fans could go and submit their created missions or have a place to get some news, and download missions, and files for IF,
well the site has been going since and has files for IF, IFA2, and IFA3.

So what we have available for IF itself is the following:
  • sp missions
  • coop missions
  • campaigns
  • mission packs
  • templates
  • scripts
  • texture packs

I hope the little history on IF wasn't to much but it sums up why IF isn't moddable.
IFA2 and IFA3 is modable and myself and a few others have built alot of great stuff for it,
any questions about getting setup in IFA2 and IFA3, let me know I will help you get setup.

Hello Gunter,

Thanks for your quick and concise reply. So am I right in saying then that if I convert to Arma3 I will end up with something like a new version of IF 1944 which is still a WW2 sim and one that is moddable (by some)? I've downloaded the guide to Arma3 conversion and will do this as long as IF remains a WW2 based sim.

Thanks again

Yes!

If you convert IF for arma3 its still Iron front, but with more features, functions, and possibilities to add, and play
with alot of things that you cannot with IF itself.
Maybe i can give you a quick feature list of what to expect in IFA3:

IFA3 Features
  • Better graphics, and textures
  • better sound
  • character customization
  • create better enhanced, advanced missions with more features
  • more functions from arma3
  • weapon resting
  • with mods and more specifically with my IFA3WarMod see the features and vids related on the page, more and new content will be released for it this towards the weekend.
  • more maps to play on
  • play with other mods alongside the mod depending on the mod of course
  • and many more!
A quick sum up but like IF its worth the play, I also recommend IFA2 as well!
