Escape from a German POW camp and steal a Stuka.

Contains light elements of stealth and scavenging.

Santa, would you consider making another version of this using a US P.O.W., more patrols and manned spotlights in different areas.  I quite enjoyed it even though I didn't escape, got shot trying to get into the plane lol.  It would also be interesting to see an early morning version with random air overhead that you need to stay out of sight from, maybe starting around 5:00 - 6:00am.

The only issue I had is at the Soviet camp, I had trouble grabbing the rifle and could not find any ammo for it.  I don't know if there was suppose to be anything else at the camp because I couldn't find anything so I improvised.  I ended up getting the attention of the guards at the compound and ran around the buildings.  While they were distracted looking for me I ran back to the car and proceeded to run them over thus giving me guns, ammo and a map lol.  I left the car and made my way on foot to the airfield where I got shot because I became over confident.

I enjoyed this mission.

I too found old Russian camp but could not find anything useful in the tents or the wagon.

I ran around the German position, arrived at the airstrip and after many attempts finally stole the aircraft and flew out.

Fun mission!

Alright I'll revisit the mission at some point. I'm guessing I should keep it .ifa for Iron Front?

You can keep it .ifa for those that haven't converted.   I changed it to .pbo and it runs great and it's no problem changing it over.  Glad to hear you're going to revisit it again, I will be eagerly waiting.

So far I finished placing the spotlights in the POW camp. Now, about the RU camp. I'm able to get the rifle without issues. The ammo is in a bag hanging of the right rail on the wagon. This is what happens when I try traditional game techniques in Arma [frown]. Although I like your style Gerhart, vehicular manslaughter [rofl].

Was everything pretty much straight forward? I didn't know how to balance adventure and holding your hand with waypoints and big red arrows.

Yea everything was explained very well without taking the player by the hand and leading them along.  At first I actually started heading towards a checkpoint because I seen the smoke from their campfire in the distance.  When I got close enough I realized I was heading to the wrong camp lol.  I didn't really need the compass because I use the stars to navigate but it is handy for those that don't know how to do that.

One thing I expected but didn't see was more patrols, it would be interesting to see random trucks dropping off troops for a patrol along the roads.

This is the exact route I took.  Immediately leaving the pow camp I turned right, hugging the wall under the guard in tower and proceeded to hug the wall all the way around to the east.  Once I got close enough to some cover I crawled to the nearest trees on the hillside then checked my surroundings.  I made my way slightly off course and found that checkpoint, the reason for this is because I was expecting more patrols or random a.i. along the way and was extra cautious.  After making my way to the Soviet camp and the hit-n-run event I gathered supplies and ditched the car at the same compound.  The reason for ditching the car was to not draw more attention to myself.  ( keeping the car would be a great reason to bring a plane out to hunt you down thus making it harder for the player to use the car )  I started heading SW staying in trees and bushes when possible, there is a lot of open ground but I was still playing extra cautious.  When I made it just NE of the airfield I went up on the hillside.  I honestly expected there to be patrols here but after seeing there were none my confidence swelled.  I watched the road down below me on the other side of the fence, here again I expected more vehicle patrols and/or foot patrols but there were none.  Once I made it past a break in the fence I started surveying the location of the plane, this is where my over confidence got me.  I heard a truck to my right and seen the headlights in the distance.  With no where to take cover I beat feet towards the plane and started being engaged.  Circling around to the southwest part of the compound I used the buildings and such to start taking out the a.i.  I have tpwLOS installed and they will try flanking you once they spot you.  I also have tpscas installed and other a.i. enhancements.  Making a mad dash to the plane got me shot, a bad call on my part, cocky and over confident was my downfall lol.

I did have this all recorded but messed up and deleted it, I'm going to do another run of it and record again, success or fail.  I personally feel having the pow camp even farther away from the goal with optional tasks would be great.  Things such as finding mines and planting them on the road to take out at least one random truck/car, blowing up an ammo depot or tank at a compound among other things for the war effort.  Taking out a random truck/car patrol would be great.  Imagine planting a mine on a road anywhere and as you're headed towards your destination you hear that sweet explosion in the distance, you know you would be smiling to yourself.

I've been wanting to make something like this myself but honestly don't know how to go about doing it.  My neck is messed up and I've been off work for a month now and still haven't figured out how to convert those blitzkrieg missions to use US instead of RU ( very frustrating since I love those missions ).  I may be looking at surgery, I hope not, and should find out next week, cross fingers.

As far as pointing the way for the player I think it's better to leave it as simple as possible.  You explained it very well and to the point with out a huge neon sign saying HEY OVER HERE.  If you were to have optional tasks it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a map someone could find on a soldier or in something.  It could also be a note someone would have and a map with the location on it.  Something as simple as this.  A note or orders reading : The 13th Pan Div has a tank in need of repair at "location" or a flak gun in need of work located "here" or truck/car anything to go BOOM lol.  Heck even a plane that ran out of fuel and couldn't make it to the airfield sitting in some random field.  You stumble across it and while looking in the cargo you find a map with the location of several flak guns you could take out if you wanted.  The question would be how to take them out, so you would need to find some explosives and so on.  Just some ideas that have been going through my head as I play.

@Joe98 - Why haven't you converted?  Believe me it's well worth it especially with all of the other mods you can then use.  I'm thinking about reinstalling Arma 3 just to try it out on that right now I've converted for Arma 2CO
