The Tank Clashes East of Warsaw were a series of engagements between the Soviet’s  Second Tank Army and the German Army’s Thirty Ninth Panzer Corps that occurred as part of the Lublin-Brest Offensive from 29 July to 4 August 1944.  The clashes took place east of Warsaw in the areas of Radzymin, Wolomin, Okuniew, and Praga. It was the largest Tank Battle that ever took place in Poland and rivaled in size many that took place on in Russian on the Eastern Front.  On the 69th Anniversary of this major battle that begins on 29 July, I am pleased to present you with the following:

The following two 50 minute videos provide a narrative of this Large and little know tank battle with in game footage. Videos are best viewed in High Definition and with either German Beer or Russian Vodka  Credits and sources I used are shown in the credit section at the end of video 2:

Part1:

Part2:

Scenarios:

The following 20 Iron Front 1944 scenarios recreate this major tank battle, They are designed for online multi-play; but single players can have some fun with them as well.  They are capture and hold.  There is rapid travel for infantry at the battle map desk in the spawn site and for each objective captured by the friendly team.  If you do not want this, delete the map and desk unit on each objective. Tankers will spawn into a tank with an AI crew and respawn in same fashion.  Does require DLC as the 8th Guards Tank Corps was equipped with American Sherman Tanks. Time limit for each scenario is 40 minutes; but you may change this in the description.exe file to how long you desire.  I tried to limit the area for each scenario and include some environmental effects to make this seem like a true battle on the eastern front rather than folks individually running all over the place to try to find an enemy to fight.  War on the Eastern Front was large and fought by units, not a bunch of individuals.  Feel free to modify the scenarios to your liking.

Scenarios are available at the following link:

Thanks for the compliment.

I said I would do this series and videos as my part to help keep this game alive.  Not sure what, if anything it will do to help.  But I said I would do it and I spent a month and a half working it hard, and have done it:  true to my word.  I am not a modder and this was my little contribution to help, if it does at all.  But hope it will.  I posted the videos on Steam and the old site along with the link to this site to try to get folks to relook the potential of this game.

am now going to move on to try to learn to create new Islands either for here - if we are allowed to - or for Arma 3 in anticipation for when WWII Mods migrate there.  And await the great work of those working the update here.  Hope we will be allowed to create new Islands to take advantage of all the great new stuff they are working for us to enjoy with this great game.

Outstanding work Shpagin, the quality and work in your videos is astonishingly amazing, very professionally done!

I had built a new page for your series on the MR:
http://www.missionrepository.com/tank-clash-campaign-20
Anyone can download all 20 scenarios separately or or download the pack I put together which is about 18mb.

i didn't setup the videos like you did here as it takes forever for the page to load, so all i did was setup the first 2 videos you have and then linked the rest.

Thanks for the compliment and for hosting the scenarios.  Was interesting as I researched this campaign that I discovered that when the Germans are pulling the HG and 19th Panzer Divisions out of the line to move them to respond to the Russian bridgehead across the Vistula south of Warsaw, they were moving over to the area  that my first Panzer Leader series covered.

I might go back and do a similar video for my Tarawa series.  I just did not have time to do one there as I wanted to shift over and get on this project.  my next step is to try to learn how to create new Islands for both here and Arma 3.  Also need to get over and start learning editing in Arma 3 for when Invasion 44 shifts to it as well as any other World War II Mods. And cannot wait for the work of the team behind the scenes to fix IF44 and provide new content here.  Hope the videos will draw attention to this great game and get folks interested in the Revival project.  I included the link to this site in my credits on the video.

Yes you are right on loading time. Could not sleep so decided to download Rising Sun, the Red Orchestra 2, Pacific theater version that came out last month.  But,  tomorrow will delete the embedded map videos in this post and replace them with an external link that will open to a new page, so the load time is not so long.

Was delighted to get a nice compliment on my video narration of this battle.  The real credit goes to this great game!  But really nice getting a compliment from a grandson of one of the Soviet tank brigade commanders [smile]

Dmitri Turenkov:

"Allow myself you give you a credit on the tremendous job you have done. To be entirely honest, what I was after were the maps and the narration, both impartial and quite precise, which towers you head and shoulders above the Discovery fairytales. There is, however, one particular I would like to specify. First, the 59th Guards Tank Brigade of the 8th Guards Tank Corps was not fully equipped with Shermans. Of its 3 battalions, the second, commanded by Hero of the Soviet Union, Guards captain Potapov,  fought on T-34s. There were indeed attempts to make the brigade entirely "American", but my grandfather rebelled and it remained "American" by two thirds until the end of war. If you re interested in adding information from the Action Log of 59th Guards Tank Brigade and other sources available in Russian, feel free to contact me. Once again, well done.

Shpagin, I've played several of your missions today and I salute you for making them. Must have been a lot of work. They are the best I've seen so far. I hope to see more of your work in future. Thank you.

I do have a request though. Can you tell me how  to arrange an artillery barrage, like you do in your missions?

Shpagin hasn't been on the forums here since November of last year, dont know if he will respond, but what you can do is open the mission that has
the artillery and see where everything is placed, as well as the codes, from what i played of his last it as based on a trigger and a script he used, i forget.

I'll do that, Gunter, thanks for anwering. I just found out how to open missions with PBO Manager, so I will take a look. You know, I'm so amazed to see how sophisticated IF is. It is so underestimated. I hope more people, like myself, realize that and return to the game.

Yes IF is pretty sofisticatd, its still a mod for Arma2CO, that was the original intent a few years ago even though its sold as a standalone game,
the game uses the Arma2CO's engine as well.
