Hi.

Some months after IF was released, I tried to make a port of the Arma 2 dynamic coop mission War In Takistan to IF. Obviously with the permission of the author.

Thanks to my lack of knowledge on scripting and the lack of public servers in my Region, I stopped working on it. Some functions are working, but most of them don´t.

I'm thinking take up the idea because of the revival mod. I just need guidance and answers.

If anyone is interested in helping me to resume the project, please told me.

Sounds like a great idea, I am personally not familier with the mission, although i have heard of it but for anyone to help
you we'll need to know what you have done so far, and what you need exactly.

Hi Gunther, thanks for your efforts.

Somehow, WIT is modifiable as Domination. I just need someone familiar with the file structure and warcontext engine to ask what to be changed in case I do not know.

Previously, I made a port of WIT BAF version to Tora Bora island and works very well even using the construction module of A2 OA, but porting to another game is hard for a newbee like me.

the onyl difference between Arma2 and iron Front is the units, and basically the theater of war your working with, so with Arma2, and Baf your
working with modern war and with IF obviously all WW2, but overall the engine is the same, so if you know how it works on Arma2Co, then it will be
the same to a degree but with new units and such, all i think you would need to do is look at the classnames used for the existing mission and then get
the classnames for IF and change them.

This is what i would do if i were to attept it, i would leave everything else as is and just swap out the classes, and then test.
After testing your RPt (IF has same as Arma2CO) should indicate any issues or problems.

The more experienced of scripters/coders/mission makers here can probably better advise you, funny I say that but i been
making missions in the editor since OFP demo, but theres things I haven't done, i have edited my share of missions in Arma2CO, and even a few in IF here,
but try it and see what happens, its how you learn.

Well, there are two files were you put all the units, weapons and different objects, but I think is not all you need to do because I fail to operate certain functions and the missions aren´t deployed.

Today I ask again for advice in the arma 2 forum.

Hi guys.
In order to learn on how to set the mission with IF content, I´m working now on a Arma 2 CO port using CWR2 content.

I think I´m very close to have the mission working. In that way I pretend to learn enough to resume the project on IF.

Hi.
I made a decent port of the mission on Arma 2 CO using CWR2 content with the advice of some people.

The next weekend I pretend to resume the IF port and probably I´ll need some help with objects classnames.
On the other hand, I need to know if there is any free program that serves to convert images to PAA format.

Finally, to get tests done, I need to know where to learn how to configure a dedicated server. Previously I only used the "-server" extension in the shortcut, but now it doesn't work that way.
 
Can a dedicated server run in conjunction with the game on the same pc like Arma 2?

you want textview 2.
my suggestion is to use gimp2 to convert to tga, then to paa without compression on, see this thread for more details:

Iron front is but a mod of Arma2, just the file names are a different name and locked up with signature checks.
IF uses the same engine as arma2CO.

Dedicated server use in IF is just the same as with Arma.

About the dedicated server, because of my poor/bad/little english , I never understood well how to run the server and make the config. For that reason, I always play Arma 2 with my friends in LAN using just the "-server" extension and a few addons to remove the HUDs.

I'd tried to do the same with IF several times, but that simply doesn´t work. If I use the IF server exe I normally got a CTD. I need the dedi server to test the mission and I will continue trying to make it work.

For now, I will focus on moving the latest version of WIT and put the IF content. At least, I can test most of the player actions inside the editor.

Hi, I'm working on the port and I have some problems because of the lack of military buildings and civilian faction in IF.
I need some building to simulate a Repair Point and a Power Generator.

Any suggestion?

Another think I need is help about wrecks. The only visible aircraft wreck in the editor is de Pe-2? Is there any other?

Place a building down you think can fit, and then use a script like:

just take the parts you need and apply them, i would use a script to repair with that are trigger based, you can drive up to the building and get repaired.

As for airplane wrecks only other thing i can think of is to put down planes and then put their damage down to 0 (zero).
