That sounds promising gunter, hope this game picks up momentum and moves forward, which being able to make mod/addons will definitely do.

To be able to cross over games would be spectacular, but maybe just hope for that in the future perhaps.

Anyway, first post here, great forum, I will keep updated with progress and everything else..

Regarding the unofficial patch you are working on, it would be handy if there were an option to uninstall that unofficial patch just in case something goes wrong.

Right now we are not working on the unofficial patch, its just a list we are compiling for when we get something else
completed which is much more important, for the IF community sake.
But with the Arma engine you cannot uninstall a patch you have to uninstall the whole game to remove a version, and then patch back to where you want it.
Patching it will be in a mod form so that if something does go wrong then you can just remove the file that causing the trouble and then we can fix it it.

For this thread lets try to keep on the subject of what the thread is about, any question about the mod or patches ask here:

Recently reviewing a part of our forum and updating, editing as I go, I found this question and this answer after reviewing it:
Quote:
10. What part of World War 2 is the game based on?

Iron Front focus to the summer of 1944 on the Eastern front, during the Operation Bagration.
The in-game terrain based on real places from Poland and Northwest Ukraine.

from this thread: http://ironfront.forumchitchat.com/post/FAQ-6264397

Now my question based on the answer is, why call the game Iron Front Liberation 1944?
Which to me would give the game a general meaning in terms of what it covers, but based on that answer
at least they should have added or said something like:

Iron Front Liberation 1944
Operation Bagration

or

Iron Front 1944
Operation Bagration

What you guys think?

Iron Front Liberation 1944, of course.
1944 - it's a symbol of liberation(Sevastopol, Leningrad, Minsk, Warsaw, Rome, Paris, etc...)
Op.Bagration? Yes, but it's very poorly presented in IF.

As for those other cities you mentioned, we wont be seeing those, unless the mod team here comes up with a map that
covers those areas which would be pretty cool from a WW2 realism standpoint.

Heh, as for me - game (because of WWII period and presented theatre, except for D-Day DLC) is not about liberating anything or anyone, but rather about replacing Nazi terror with ten times longer lasting Communists' (Stalin's puppets) hegemony over Poland. So "Liberation" word in the name sounds ironic to me. "Liberating" means, that something, that was enslaved, become free. Poland's situation after this "liberating" was and long time remained far from freedom. Even worse for Ukraine.

Also shorter name is usually better.

The game is specifically covering the area of Ukraine and Poland, so the Liberation aspect would factor into that.
The other part of the name with Liberation is I believe, and im just guessing here but Awar formally known as the Libmod team or aka Liberation mod 1941-1945 for OFP (Operation Flashpoint)
for those who dont have a clue, I believe that Liberation was thrown in there to reflect the former mod in some point or another.

"Iron Front 1944"  is a good name.  The name summarises the game.

Also, with that name, it would be easy to name DLCs as they came along.

I first heard of IFL44 way back last year but assumed it was just another Arma add-on or work in progress or downloadable beta or something, so never paid much attention.
Then I heard last month that it was a proper standalone game in its own right, available on disk so i checked it out in a few youtube vids, liked what I saw and bought it on disk from Amazon about 3 weeks ago for £22 (31 US dollars), exactly a year since it was released, and am hooked on it!
I still like AA2 but IF has the weight of dramatic WW2 history behind it, and if it'd been more widely advertised I'd have bought it on its release instead of only discovering it a year later.
Hopefully a design team will take up the franchise and bring out further titles based on the same Arma engine, for example the Battle of France 1940, that'd certainly be something to see..

Guderian quote from 'Panzer Leader' page 114-
"On the 21st of May (1940) a noteworthy event occurred to the north of us: English tanks attempted to break through in the direction of Paris. At Arras they came up against the SS Division Totenkopf which showed signs of panic"

Something else to see is right, but the thing is Iron Front is only covering a small period of the war on the Ostfront,
the summer of 1944 in Poland and the Ukraine. I would like to see the beginning of the Ostfront (Operation Barbarossa) - June 22nd 1941,
wouldn't mind seeing the War in France 1940, even in that time there was many operation and battles, as when you continue on in the war you have the Partizen conflicts too.

Other theaters would be nice like Italian theater, Africa Korps, Norway, Battle for Stalingrad, Battle for Leningrad,
Battle for Berlin, Kursk, Minsk, even Talvisota

Yes and the developers could make it easy for themselves by keeping things very simple, they needn't produce dozens of different types of units, weapons and maps.
For example to produce an Iron Front:Stalingrad they need only create one map containing the city and the area around it, and could use existing units from ILF44 such as Stug, Pz IV, Sd251 halftracks, Wehrmacht infantry, plus T-34/76 and Russian infantry and vehicles etc.
If they wanted, they could create a few new units for Stalingrad such as a Pz IIIL/60, Stug 105mm, KV-2 and Sturmovik etc.

And for a brandnew game such as Iron Front:Tobruk they need only create one map covering the town and the desert around it where dramatic battles took place in 1941/42, and create just a few units, for example Crusader and Grant tanks, Brit infantry, Hurricane, and German Pz III's etc
