Okay thanks, I'd better just let games decide for themselves where they want to be installed.

PS- I might have been too hasty in my first post by blaming Win 7, as IronFront ran fine for a few hours after the shop installed Win 7.

But then I was hit by an avalanche of popups and fullscreen adverts whenever I opened Internet Explorer, but I eventually stopped them by adjusting the popup blocker to High. (the shop had set it on Low).

But then I found that some of my games like Ironfront and flight sims were now stuttering and are unplayable, so I assume something nasty had ridden in on that wave of popups before I could stop them, and is messing up my games?

Incidentally I used to close the popups either by clicking the 'Close' button in the advert, or by clicking the 'X' in their top righthand corner, but I've since been told I should have closed them by the far more secure method of the Task Manager.

My PC runs fine, it's just games that are affected.

I've got AVG and have run several full scans but they found nothing.

IronFront still won't run so I'm stuck (sniffle)

ok found this out steam and ARMA2 ARE BOTH.
32BIT programs and are to go in program files(x86)
,,,

So, it is not incorect to have your Steam installation AND the ArmA2 installation in "Program Files x86" folder, because they are simply 32bit programs! now are you loading ur iron frontl44 on with a steam..
and thats why loading the @if conversion didnt work that great for me testing it and my short cuts never worked right
i loaded the @if conversion and iron front to my D\ . i had c\ d\ and the program files x86 folder with Arma2and ifl44 files all over places
i just run win7 over the HD and so i try this all over here
load games up right
win7 works best with over 2gb
never loaded ifl44 yet

You have malware problems. Every time you go to play your games it hijacks the games to broadcast over the net.
Do like Careerevil suggested and run ccleaner then malwarebytes, but do it in safe mode. Also use winaso too. It picks up stuff ccleaner misses and vice versa. You can also use winaso to stop programs from starting up easy peasy. When you look at the stratup programs you can tell what the malware programs are starting up. If not sure google is your friend and will help you determine if the program is a virus or not.
Now hurry up both of you and play, cause the IF player base is starting to dwindle again!!!

I use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and straight from the source. Everything else gives problems along the way. Definitely run Malwarebyt, it fixed a computer that wouldn't go into windows.

Does it really matter if it's in program files (x86) or (x64). Isn't that just a folder address for you, the used, to find things. As long as you don't move anything manually after it's installed. That's when the registry gets all confused. That's where CCleaner comes in. So far everything goes into Program Files (x86) unless there's a 64bit next to it.

Some shops are crooked and install remote access software. A lot of people buy from iBuyPower. They know their stuff and charge well. For the estimate you posted I expect an i7 and closer to a GTX780.

Gerhart what do you do to use up 7 gigs? 1.46G used making this post. Gaming barely gets close to 2.5G. Video memory is what you need and 2G is becoming the standard
 for games.

Threads like these shows you why people buy Playbox 4's and Xstation Ones'.

Thanks guys, I'll follow up all you say.
Meanwhile I'm having a problem with my new PC, it's  Win 7 and has got an Nvidia GTX 770, but I can't find the Nvidia Control Panel!
On my old PC it could be brought up by simply right-clicking the Desktop, but nothing happens when I do that on my new PC.
I've looked in the Nvidia file on my system but I still can't find a way to open its Control Panel.
Any suggestions? I need the Nvidia Control Panel so I can fine-tune display settings etc, and there's also a magic button in there that I need to kill any picture stretching on certain resolutions.

@Santa To be honest I don't remember everything I had running at the time.  At this moment my system is using 4.2 gigs and I have a ton of programs running including several live streams ( ok 4 to be exact ) and a video playing.  All of those in pop out windows lol.  There are several other programs running also.

To test my system after I built it I ran several applications of a game called Kerbal Space Program.  If I remember correctly I had 6 instances of the game running all with rockets in flight and was only using around 6 to 8 gigs.  That was with an older processor and video card, I've upgraded since then.  I always build my own systems and never get a pre-built one.

If I play a Blitzkrieg mission ( favorite mission type ) I have between 100-120 ai on the battlefield with vehicles/planes.  I have a mission I made using 130 ai, I like big battles hehe but this is only infantry.  I play as a medic in that one.  I've recorded a lot of these battles but I haven't rendered and uploaded them thinking that no one is really interested in watching them.  Plus they are an hour long and I don't know if anyone would sit through it all. As a matter of fact I just deleted over 700gigs of footage and still have 300gigs sitting on my drive waiting for me to decide to render them or not.

Sorry for the off topic.

@Spike, you may need to re-install your graphics drivers.  Just jump over to the Nvidia site and grab them there.

Just an idea- When I was cleaning up my old PC system after installing Win 7, I think I accidentally deleted Ironfront straight into the recycle bin without doing the proper uninstall procedure, which might have messed up the registry or something.
That's probably why it won't run after I installed it later.
I've done AVG, CCleaner and Malwarebyte scans but it still won't run.
It's no big deal, i'll install it on my new PC later..[smile]

In the Cleaner tab run Analyze then Run Cleaner. Repeat until Analyze comes up clean. You might end up with something that won't go away. just ignore that one.
Do the same with the Registry tab Scan for Issues then Fix selected issues... Repeat till it's clear. Then restart PC.

The default selections are fine. Under the Cleaner tab go to Applications and find the browser you use. Then unselect the boxes to preserve cookies, passwords, and history.

Remember CCleaner is a "use at your own risk" type of software.
