I have some items that happen at initiation that I do not want players to see.  For instance some AI soldiers are killed by moving their health to all the way to the left.  How do I delay the start so these actions take place and the players don't see the soldier falling dead.  Instead he has already fallen and is dead on the ground?

I hope this will help you shpagin:

TitleCut ["","BLACK OUT",0.1]

~5
TitleCut ["","BLACK IN",5]

make a intro.sqs with the command above and then activate it via your init.
I don't guarantee anything shpagin (in ofp times it works for me )
Greetings xPuSx

If you want to get a bit fancier you could try this code in your init.sqf (You will need to have the functions module on the map otherwise the screen stays black and the blur effect only works if you have post process in your graphics settings switched on).

titleCut ["", "BLACK FADED", 999];
[] Spawn {
waitUntil{!(isNil "BIS_fnc_init")};

// Info text
[str ("your text here"), str("your text here"), str(date select 2) + "." + str(date select 1) + "." + str(date select 0)] spawn BIS_fnc_infoText;

sleep 5;
"dynamicBlur" ppEffectEnable true;
"dynamicBlur" ppEffectAdjust [6];
"dynamicBlur" ppEffectCommit 0;
"dynamicBlur" ppEffectAdjust [0.0];
"dynamicBlur" ppEffectCommit 5;

titleCut ["", "BLACK IN", 5];
};

Stupid me,  discovered the only problem is when i am in editor and preview. When i save game out and play the game, the init is done when game starts.

But thanks for the assistance.

This effect should work in the editor too, so long as the init file is in the mission folder

the editor is a bit funny in IF and doesn't always execute the init.sqf for some reason.

I must admit Dan, I have never noticed that, as far as I can remember the init always initiates in the editor for me.
