Hi,

  I have a script request...
Is it possible to script that an AI would be able to call the artillery support?
The A3 artillery module allows a player to call in virtual, or placed artillery support.
In single-player, this means that only a playable unit, synchronized with the module will be able to call in the support.
For the sake of realism I'd like for an AI member of a squad to call in the support, at the request of the player.
Calling in artillery support would be the job of a radioman, literally calling the coordinates, and getting the request to the artillery.
If it were possible to script an action to be added to an AI's series of commands,I think it would add an extra level and element of realism. 
A script using just this technique is the explosives expert script found in 'Explosives-to-Vehicles' by StealthStick.
The script allows a player to guide an AI to a vehicle, attach an explosive charge and detonate it.
There is a scroll-wheel menu unique to the AI which allows this:-

I have tested it with AI and you are able to tell them to attach the explosive and set it off, etc as you would with any action they have available via commanding.

In mission, this would restrict the players ability to call in artillery support to the status of his radioman; much like in some scenario's, he would be restricted to medical attention as a result of the status of his medic.

Another solution:  Setup a trigger. When the trigger fires virtual artillery falls on a position.

This gives the appearance that an AI soldier called for artillery support.

Cheers Joe98 - I had tried using a trigger with Radio Activation.
It does work in a similar way to the Artillery Module, but is still player activated.
Your way would be ideal, but would be limited to whatever/however the trigger is fired,
not as and when the Squad Leader decides he needs it, which is what I'm hoping for.

Hi Bluntman,

  Thank you for the pointers.

  Unfortunately I am currently not in a position to play IFA3; update or create Missions, so I cannot verify whether these would help.

  As soon as I am able to rejoin with IFF, I`ll check them out and post up the results.
